More than 61,000 people died in Sudan’s Khartoum state during the first 14 months of the nation’s civil war; far surpassing previous estimates, according to a new study by researchers in the UK and Sudan. The report was published on Nov. 13 by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine’s Sudan Research Group and funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO).
