
Persecution of Falun Gong Adherents Continues as Thousands Reported Imprisoned, Tortured This Year

More than 25 years after China outlawed Falun Gong, the regime’s persecution of the spiritual movement continues unabated, with thousands of Falun Gong adherents arrested, imprisoned, and tortured for their beliefs. The sheer number of victims may be desensitizing Westerners to the atrocities taking place in China, a human rights organization warns. Minghui.org, a U.S.-based website documenting the persecution of Falun Gong, reported on Nov. 7 that almost 5,000 adherents were detained and tortured by the regime in the first ten months of this year.
