Protests Erupt In Israel After Netanyahu Sacks Defense Minister Gallant

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to sack defense minister, Yoav Gallant, on Tuesday led to a wave of protests, including a big demonstration which paralyzed downtown Tel Aviv. As the world focused on the U.S. presidential election, Netanyahu suddenly announced on Tuesday evening he had decided to dismiss Gallant and replace him with foreign minister Israel Katz. After the news emerged, thousands of protesters gathered in Tel Aviv, bringing traffic to a standstill in the city center.
