ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr is poised to form government for an unprecedented seventh consecutive term—despite a 3.3 percent swing against Labor—solidifying his place as one of Australia’s longest-serving political leaders. With the election night votes nearly counted, Barr’s Labor Party is projected to win at least 10 seats in the 25-seat Legislative Assembly with the Greens likely to win three—13 is the threshold to form government.
