
Australian Nurse Arrested in Turkey on Terror Charges
An Australian nurse accused of being part of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) has been arrested in Turkey as she attempted to board a flight home from Istanbul Airport. The PKK is considered a Kurdish militant political organisation and is deemed a terrorist organisation by nations and entities, including Australia, Turkey, the United States and the European Union. The Australian government lists the PKK as an ideologically motivated, violent extremist organisation that aims to monopolise Kurdish political power, including by attacking the interests of rival political parties. The PKK was founded in 1978 and is based on Marxist and Leninist ideals. It is estimated the group has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people....
