‘Divine Light’: 9-Year-Old Takes Photo of Peahens on Misty Winter Morning, Makes It to Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards

A breathtaking photograph of peahens on a glorious winter morning has made it to the 60th World Wildlife Photography Awards. The dream-like shot taken by an Indian girl who is only in grade five has come runner-up in the “10 Years and Under” category. Shreyovi Mehta’s winning picture, titled “In the Spotlight,” depicts a silhouette of two peahens standing in the center of what appears to be a “dark tunnel” of trees, with the light of dawn illuminating the background. The budding photographer called the remarkable golden hue captured in her shot a “divine light.” The harmony of nature is clearly evident in the image. The bright background provides a sharp contrast to the shadowy foreground, as if offering a hopeful path amidst life’s seemingly insurmountable challenges....
