The UK does not seek conflict with Russia, the prime minister has said as he reaffirmed support for Ukraine’s right to defend itself. Sir Keir Starmer made the remarks in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin saying that allowing Kyiv to perform long-range strikes with Western-made missiles would bring NATO “at war” with Russia. Starmer said on Thursday as he arrived in the United States ahead of talks with President Joe Biden that “Ukraine has the right to self-defence and we’ve obviously been absolutely fully supportive of Ukraine’s right to self-defence—we’re providing training capability, as you know.”...
