Israel Military Says Hamas Rocket Platoon Commander Killed in Gaza Airstrike

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday that it killed a Hamas rocket-launching platoon commander in a military airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip last week. The commander, Raef Omar Salman Abu Shab of the Hamas eastern Khan Yunis battalion, was killed by Israel’s air force during an operation in the area, The IDF announced in a statement. According to the Israeli military, Shab had been responsible for the rocket barrages launched from the Khan Yunis area toward southern and central Israel since the war erupted last year. There has been no independent confirmation of Shab’s death, and it remains unclear if there were additional casualties resulting from the attack....
