Texas Governor Activates Emergency Responders Ahead of Possible Hurricane Landfall

A tropical system that recently formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico could become a hurricane, with forecasters warning that it could hit Louisiana and Texas by late Wednesday, Sept. 11, prompting Texas to activate its emergency response system. The system, which has not been named, is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm by Tuesday before reaching hurricane strength by Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The storm is not expected to become a “major”—Category 3 or greater—hurricane. Texas Gov.
