
Central California Man Arrested in Shooting Deaths of 81 Animals in 3 Hours

Monterey County sheriff’s detectives seized multiple weapons and ammunition from the house of a man suspected of killing 81 animals, the office reported Sept. 4. Authorities received multiple reports of shots being fired at about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 3. When deputies responded to the scene, they could hear shots from several weapons continually being fired in the area and a shelter-in-place order was activated, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The deputies requested help from the Monterey County SWAT team and drones from the Seaside Fire Department and Gonzales Police Department.
