Rayner Pledges Plan to Accelerate Removal of Unsafe Cladding

Housing Minister Angela Rayner has promised to launch a plan to accelerate the removal of unsafe cladding from buildings, following the release of the final Grenfell Tower fire report. Rayner told BBC Radio 4’s “Today” on Thursday that the current pace of ensuring identified buildings are made safe “is far too slow,” so she has tasked her department with developing a remediation acceleration plan which will speed up the process. According to the latest government data on building safety remediation, 4,630 residential buildings in England 36ft or higher that had been identified as having unsafe cladding. Only around half (2,299) are noted as having either started or completed remediation works and of these, 29 percent (1,350) have had such work completed....
