
Union Issues, Poor Manufacturing and Energy Policies Threatening Economy: Dutton
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton said the struggling manufacturing and mining sectors, the steep increase in electricity prices, and the mismanagement of the CFMEU were contributing to poor economic growth in Australia. On Sept. 5, Dutton spoke in Horsham Park, Sydney, about the latest weak gross domestic product (GDP) numbers. He stated that one reason for housing becoming more expensive is the mismanagement of the construction union. Its alleged ties to criminal elements, such as bikies involved in extortion and drug distribution, are pushing up construction costs and inflating housing prices, Dutton added.
