BC Union Plans Meeting With Premier Over Victoria Firefighter’s Suspension

The Victoria firefighters union plans to meet with B.C. Premier David Eby over a member who was suspended after writing an open letter to the premier criticizing a city drug consumption site project. In an Aug. 21 media release, the Victoria Firefighters Association said it opposes the City of Victoria’s disciplinary action against firefighter Josh Montgomery. Montgomery’s discipline came after he wrote a letter to Premier Eby in mid-July, asking the province to suspend a proposed drug consumption site in the Victoria neighbourhood where Montgomery and his young children live.
