Australian Senate Takes ‘Most Significant Step’ to Combat Illegal Organ Harvesting With New Bill

The Australian Senate has passed a bill aimed at combating crimes related to illegal organ harvesting. The Migration Amendment (Overseas Organ Transplant Disclosure and Other Measures) Bill 2023, introduced by Liberal Senator Dean Smith, passed the Senate on Aug. 21 after gaining support from Liberal, National, Green senators and independent Senator David Pocock. The bill will now move to the House of Representatives for further debate.
