A veterinarian of 44 years has cautioned against using conventional flea treatments, stating that they can be toxic to your pet. Pet owners naturally want to protect their pets and families from fleas, since the insects can transmit diseases through their bites. Some flea-borne diseases include typhus, rickettsial diseases, cat scratch disease, tapeworms, and the bubonic plague, according to the CDC.
