California Shines as Premiere Training Ground for Team USA’s Dominant Olympians

California universities took center stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics this year as the state’s champions earned 22 medals. According to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office, six of California’s 22 medals were gold this year, and 121 of the total 594 athletes from the United States at the summer games came from California, representing the most athletes from any state. The wins also come two years after Newsom signed AB 2747 in 2022, providing in-state tuition eligibility for U.S. Olympians and Paralympians training in California.
