Pakistan’s Former Spy Chief Arrested Over Land Development Raid

The former chief of Pakistan’s spy agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), has been detained by the military and charged in connection with a raid on a private housing development. Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, who took early retirement in 2022, will face court martial proceedings. It is rare for a senior officer to be charged in Pakistan, a country where the army is highly influential and has mounted numerous coups to remove elected governments over the years.
