Canadians Are the Top Foreign Buyers of Property in the US: Realtors Association

Canadians were the top foreign buyers of property in the U.S. in the past year, according to a new industry report. The report was compiled by the Chicago-based National Association of Realtors (NAR), whose membership includes 1.5 million real estate professionals. The report noted that Canadians made up 13 percent of the foreign buyers market in the U.S. in the year spanning April 2023 to March 2024. Canada was followed by buyers from China and Mexico at 11 percent, India at 10 percent, and Columbia at 4 percent. Meanwhile, only four percent of Americans looked to buy in Canada, preferring homes in Mexico (16 percent), Costa Rica (8 percent), Italy (6 percent), and Columbia (5 percent)....
