
NHS Failures Led to Schizophrenic Killer Valdo Calocane Being Discharged, Says Review
A report found that multiple failures in the treatment of paranoid schizophrenic Valdo Calocane led to his discharge without any further contact with mental health professionals, despite knowledge of the serious risk he posed to others. The Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) review published on Tuesday into the treatment of Calocane also found that Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) had “minimised or omitted” key details of the danger he posed in the two years of dealing with him before he killed Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and Ian Coates, 65, on June 13, 2023.
