US Appeals Decision that Stripped Jordan Chiles of Bronze Medal

The U.S. gymnastics team announced it will appeal a decision to strip gymnast Jordan Chiles of her Olympic bronze medal in the floor exercise of the Paris Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Sunday that it would award the bronze to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu, in a decision made after a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling determined that an inquiry made by USA Gymnastics regarding Chiles’ final score was submitted too late. In a statement on Sunday afternoon, USA Gymnastics announced an appeal of the court’s decision, formally submitting a letter and video evidence that allegedly establishes that the Americans’ coach, Cecile Landi, submitted her request for an inquiry within the allotted timeframe....
