Ventura Men Sentenced to Prison for SoCal Crime Spree

Two Ventura County men were sentenced to prison on Aug. 8 for their involvement in a crime spree that included extorting a taco truck vendor and robbing two small businesses, authorities said. Oscar Aguirre Silva, 31, of Ventura received a six-year federal prison sentence from U.S. District Judge Hernán D. Vera and was ordered to pay $2,941 in restitution. Silva pleaded guilty on April 25 to charges including extortion, robbery, bank fraud, attempted bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in a press release. Edward Donaldo Ramirez Martinez, 28, of Ventura was sentenced to four and a half years in federal prison. Ramirez was ordered to pay $1,597 in restitution. He pleaded guilty on April 25 to aggravated identity theft and being a felon with ammunition, prosecutors said....
