Athlete Dies During Swimming Event at CrossFit Games in Texas

A Serbian athlete died while competing in a swimming event in Fort Worth, Texas, on Aug. 8 that was part of the 2024 CrossFit Games, organizers of the games have said. In a statement on social media platform X, CrossFit Games said it was “shattered” by the loss of 28-year-old Lazar Dukic, whom it described as “one of our sport’s most talented competitors” and “much more than an athlete.” The statement went on to describe Dukic as “a son, a brother, and a friend to practically everyone who knew him.” “Fiercely competitive, incurably joyful, and uncommonly kind, Lazar was the sun of any room he was in,” CrossFit Games continued. “The loss of his light is inconceivable.
