Ukrainian Military Push Into Kursk Enters 3rd Day; Locals Evacuated, Russia Says

Residents have been evacuated from parts of Russia’s western Kursk region amid an ongoing Ukrainian cross-border assault that entered its third day on Aug. 8. “All the population that needed to be evacuated has been evacuated,” Andrey Belostotsky, the region’s acting deputy governor, said in broadcast remarks. According to Belostotsky, some 3,000 residents were evacuated from areas near the border, half of whom are now in temporary shelters.
