
Amid Fears of Mideast War, US Ally Jordan Joins Russia in Urging Restraint

Russia and Jordan have called on “all parties” to show restraint amid expectations of an imminent Iranian attack on Israel following last week’s killing of a top Hamas leader in Tehran. In a phone call, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, called on “all parties concerned to show restraint in order to prevent catastrophic consequences for the entire Middle East.” According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the two men “exchanged views of … the military and political situation in the Middle East with a focus on the need for a cease-fire in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the soonest de-escalation in the region.”...
