Tropical Storm Debby is expected to rapidly intensify into a hurricane before making landfall in the Florida Panhandle in the early morning of Aug. 5, according to the National Hurricane Center. Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference in the Emergency Operations Center on the morning of Aug. 4 to brief residents on the current situation and outline preparation measures the state has already taken for what is expected to be a major rain and flood event in the coming days.
