Woman Hospitalized After Assault in Apartment in Downtown Los Angeles High-Rise

LOS ANGELES—An investigation was continuing Aug. 1 into an assault at a high-rise apartment complex in downtown Los Angeles that left a woman hospitalized in critical condition. The crime occurred about 10 p.m. Tuesday at the WREN Apartments at 1230 S. Olive St., according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and reports from the scene. LAPD Central Bureau Homicide detectives were involved in the investigation, according to the LAPD, which released few details of the crime. No suspect information was available. Paramedics sent to the complex at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday found the woman in an apartment in “distress” and with an “apparent traumatic injury,” and she was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department....
