Whale Capsizes Boat Off New Hampshire Coast: Sailors and Whale Unharmed

Two people have escaped without injury after a breaching whale flipped their boat over near the New Hampshire coast,  throwing them overboard. According to a July 23 post on X by the USCG Sector Northern New England, officials received a mayday call informing them that the 23-foot boat capsized about half a nautical mile east of Odiorne Point State Park in Rye after a whale breached underneath it. “The occupants were ejected from the vessel as the boat capsized,” the Coast Guard said. “Sector issued an urgent marine information broadcast (UMIB), they directed Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor to launch.” A bystander got the two individuals out of the water, according to the Coast Guard....
