Unruly Visitors Prompt Officials to Require Reservation for Northern California Lake

Upper Lake Clementine in the Auburn State Recreation Area—roughly one hour north of Sacramento, California’s capital city—will reopen on July 27 following a temporary closure due to “unsafe traffic conditions,” according to park officials. The lake recreation area was closed on July 14 because of traffic problems on Foresthill Road during normal park operating hours, according to an announcement from officials on social media. They said cars had been parking illegally on the road and pedestrians had been crossing the street on blind turns. They also said cars had been making illegal U-turns in traffic. Lake Clementine will reopen with a new reservation system for weekends and holidays, park officials said.
