
Online Test Recommended to Speed up Diagnosis of ADHD in Children
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has recommended the NHS adopt the use of an online test to help speed up the diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. NICE, which publishes guidance for health care professionals, said in a statement on Tuesday that evidence presented to its diagnostic advisory committee found that the QbTest could increase the number of children aged six to 17 getting a diagnostic decision within six months. It was also found to have ruled out ADHD in more cases. The QbTest is a computerised test which tracks the movements of participants as it measures three symptoms of ADHD—hyperactivity, inattention, and impulsivity—which are then compared with data from a control group of children of similar ages and sex who do not have the condition....
