
California Highway Patrol Welcomes 102 New Officers, Moves Closer to Recruitment Goal
Gov. Gavin Newsom on July 13 announced that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) welcomed 102 new graduates onboard, who will soon be deployed throughout the state. This graduation is part of the state’s initiative to recruit 1,000 CHP officers and marks 816 swearings-in since the campaign began in 2022, the governor’s office said. “These new officers represent the best of California: Public servants dedicated to protecting our communities and making our neighborhoods safe,” Mr. Newsom said in a statement. “I thank these officers for their service on behalf of the people of California.” The CHP has more than 6,500 sworn officers, the statement said.
