US Issues Travel Advisory for Maldives Due to Terrorism Threat

The U.S. State Department has advised Americans considering travel to the Maldives to exercise greater caution than normal due to the threat of terrorism. The travel advisory, issued on July 11, is a Level 2 “exercise increased caution” warning. That’s one notch higher than the Level 1 “exercise normal precautions” but lower than a Level 3 alert that urges U.S. citizens to reconsider travel.
