
Man Charged With DUI Hit-and-Run That Left 2 Victims Comatose
SANTA ANA, Calif.—A 29-year-old man was charged July 9 with an alcohol-fueled hit-and-run collision that injured a family in Garden Grove. Ceferino Ascencion Ramos of Santa Ana was charged with hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury, failing to stop at a hit-and-run accident with injury, and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, all felonies. He also faces sentencing enhancements for leaving a victim comatose or paralyzed and inflicting great bodily injury. According to the criminal complaint, two of the victims were comatose due to brain injuries. Two adults were riding with the children in bike trailers at about 7:35 p.m. Sunday in the 12300 block of Haster Street at Twin Tree Lane when they were struck by a black 2003 Toyota Camry whose driver left the scene, according to Sgt.
