
Manhunt Underway After LAPD Officers Injured in Shootout

LOS ANGELES—A manhunt was underway July 4 for an armed suspect after two Los Angeles Police Department officers were wounded during a shootout with a suspect in the unincorporated Willowbrook area, near Compton. The officers were injured after they confronted and exchanged gunfire with the suspect in the area of 135th Street and Broadway around 9 p.m. Wednesday, the LAPD said. Fox 11 reported the suspect opened fire on the officers, possibly with a rifle, during the traffic stop with one officer suffering head grazing. The second officer suffered minor cuts from shattered glass. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took the officers to a hospital for treatment and both are in stable condition, police said....
