CDC Data Show COVID Deaths and ER Visits on the Rise

More people ended up in hospital emergency departments and have died in recent weeks due to COVID-19, although the figures still remain relatively low, according to newly released federal data. Data provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show there was a 23 percent increase in emergency room visits associated with COVID-19 for the week ending on June 22. There was not a notable change in COVID-19 hospitalizations, numbers show. Deaths associated with the virus increased by about 14 percent for the same time period, according to the CDC.
