CDC Data Show COVID Deaths and ER Visits on the Rise

More people ended up in hospital emergency departments and have died in recent weeks due to COVID-19, although the figures still remain relatively low, according to newly released federal data. Data provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show there was a 23 percent increase in emergency room visits associated with COVID-19 for the week ending on June 22. There was not a notable change in COVID-19 hospitalizations, numbers show. Deaths associated with the virus increased by about 14 percent for the same time period, according to the CDC. Those increases in percentage are compared with recent figures, and the CDC’s historical data show that the number of deaths and hospitalizations are near all-time lows despite the rises in the past week....
