
Police Investigate String of Armed Robberies in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Police on June 27 are investigating a string of armed robberies of Long Beach street vendors. The robberies occurred on four occasions between March 24 and June 25 of last year near Cedar Avenue and Willow Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. “Detectives believe an unknown suspect approached a street vendor, demanded cash and fled the scene on a bike before the arrival of police officers,” the department reported. In three of the incidents, the suspect pointed a firearm at the victim. In one incident, he grabbed his waistband as if armed. A description of the suspect was unavailable....
