Hilton to Close Oakland Airport Hotel, Another Blow to City’s Business District

Hilton plans to close its hotel near the Oakland airport after nearly 60 years, hotel and port officials confirmed June 25. The 360-room hotel on Hegenberger Road sits on 19 acres and is just minutes from the busy San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport. Hilton Hotels and Resorts officials didn’t explain why they decided to shutter the longtime location, but said they were helping employees explore potential transfer opportunities within the company. “Hotel ownership has reached a decision to permanently close Hilton Oakland Airport, effective Aug. 28, 2024,” a Hilton spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email. “Hilton continues to welcome guests across the Bay Area where Hilton and our franchise partners operate nearly 50 hotels.”...
