
Drivers to Get 10-Minute ‘Grace Period’ in Private Car Parks Before Being Fined

Drivers who overstay their time in private cars parks by a few minutes will be able to avoid fines, following the introduction of a 10-minute “grace period.” The private parking sector single Code of Practice, published on Thursday, introduced a set of rules that are meant to benefit motorists. Brought in by the British Parking Association (BPA) and the International Parking Community (IPC), the code will apply to the entire private parking sector. Private car parks will allow a 10-minute grace period before handing out fines to drivers. Motorists will also see a cap introduced on the parking charge at £100, which will be reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days....
