
More than 1 in 4 Aussies Exceed Recommended Drinking Limits

Australians in every state are exceeding recommended alcohol consumption levels, new data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reveals. According to the ABS’s National Health Survey, more than one in four Australians are drinking above the advised limits, which are “no more than 10 standard drinks a week and no more than four standard drinks on any one day.” Northern Territory topped the list of adults who exceeded guidelines at 31.1 percent, followed by Western Australia at 29.9 percent, Queensland at 29.4 percent, and South Australia at 29.3 percent. In Tasmania, 28.9 percent are drinking more than this guideline, compared to 27.4 percent in the ACT, 25.2 percent in NSW, and 24.3 percent in Victoria....
