Orange County Contract With Coach USA Affiliate up in the Air Following Bankruptcy Proceeding

Coach USA, a major private bus company in North America, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with its affiliates on June 11 as it began the process of selling almost all business assets. The parent company’s two affiliates, Short Line and Rockland Coaches, operate several commuter bus lines in Orange and Rockland counties. Short Line, the largest commuter bus service provider in Orange County, logged over 1 million rides in 2023, according to data published by the county transportation council. Orange County attorney Richard Golden told The Epoch Times in a statement dated June 24 that the current county contract with a Coach USA affiliate would expire by the end of this month and that it was unclear at the moment whether the county would renew the bus services with the company, an apparent low bidder....
