Patients are being harmed by long waiting times in A&E departments, a survey of senior doctors has found, with the political parties criticised for failing to offer specific pledges to tackle the situation. More than 90 percent of the A&E doctors who responded to a poll by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) said patients are suffering due to casualty departments being overwhelmed, with so-called “corridor care” a frequent occurrence due to a shortage of beds.
