
Triple-Digit Heat Expected in Parts of Southern California as High Pressure Builds
LOS ANGELES—A building high pressure system will push temperatures upward beginning Friday, June 21, and continuing into early next week, giving some areas triple-digit heat for the weekend. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory that will be in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday for the Santa Clarita, San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, where forecasters said temperatures could reach as high as 101 degrees. An excessive heat watch will be in place from Saturday morning through Sunday evening in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Antelope Valley foothills and the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway corridor. “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” forecasters advised....
