Woman Arrested After Allegedly Fleeing on Foot From Deadly DUI Crash

SAN DIEGO—A woman who was behind the wheel of a sports car that crashed off a Del Mar street, fatally injuring her passenger, was under arrest in a hospital June 20 and facing charges of DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and hit-and-run. Elizabeth Brooks-Fratus, 52, allegedly fled on foot after the northbound 2019 Maserati GranTurismo she was driving veered off the roadway in the 2000 block of Coast Boulevard late Tuesday evening and struck a parked pickup truck and a tree, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Emergency personnel arrived at the site of the accident to find a gravely injured 62-year-old man in a passenger seat in the Maserati, Sgt. Jeremy Collis said. Paramedics took the victim to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending family notification....
