Fire Destroys Historic Business in Ontario County

An Ontario community is offering sympathy to a local business owner after a fire destroyed the Ryerse Garden Gallery in Simcoe. The business has been in the community since 1912. Fire crews responded to a call around 4:30 a.m. on June 20 about a structure fire on Norfolk Street, fire chief Gord Stilwell told The Epoch Times in an email. “First responding crews arrived on scene to a fully involved structure fire,” he wrote. Forty firefighters from five stations in the area responded, and Mr. Stilwell said they did an “excellent job” containing the fire and limiting damage. The chief said there were no injuries related to the fire and no one was in the building at the time.
