FBI Raids Property of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao

Federal agents raided the California home of Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao on Thursday morning. The FBI served a warrant on Maiden Lane in the city’s Lincoln Highlands neighborhood around 5:30 a.m. It remains unclear what prompted the federal raid. “The FBI is conducting court authorized law enforcement activity on Maiden Lane. We are unable to provide additional information at this time,” according to an FBI statement. Local media outlets captured video of federal agents as they carried out boxes, trash bags, and plastic bins from the home. It is unclear what items were seized. Local media also reported that the mayor was escorted from her home....
