NATO’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg reiterated calls for Canada to spend 2 percent of its GDP on defence, warning in an address in Ottawa that the defence alliance is facing the most “dangerous security environment for generations.” “I continue to expect that all allies should meet the guideline of spending 2 percent,” Mr. Stoltenberg said during a speech to the NATO Association of Canada on June 19. “I know that this is not always easy, because I’ve been a politician, a parliamentarian, and the prime minister for many years.
