Decision to Abandon Windrush Review Recommendations Unlawful: High Court

The government’s decision to abandon some of the recommendations made after an independent review into the Windrush scandal was unlawful, the High Court has ruled. The legal action against the Home Office was brought by 68-year-old Jamaica-born Trevor Donald, a Windrush victim. He challenged the decision made under the leadership of then-Home Secretary Suella Braverman in December 2022 to drop certain recommendations made in the Windrush Lessons Learned Review, published in the aftermath of the scandal. After British law changed in 1971, the “Windrush generation,” along with migrants from other former British colonies, were given the right to permanently live in the UK....

The American Petroleum Institute (API) filed a lawsuit on June 18 against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over the agency’s new rules that tighten emissions standards for heavy-duty vehicles.In March, the EPA finalized new federal greenhouse gas emissions standards for heavy-duty vehicles, such as freight trucks and buses, with the regulations applicable to model years 2027 through 2032.
