
Firefighters Free Man Stuck in Chimney of Los Angeles Apartment Building
LOS ANGELES—Firefighters Sunday evening, June 16, had to rescue a man who became stuck in the chimney of a four-story downtown Los Angeles apartment building. The predicament was reported at 7:55 p.m. Sunday in an abandoned building at 1349 S. Flower St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Nicholas Prange. “Firefighters used specialized cameras to pinpoint the location of the man within the 4-story chimney, prior to breaching the wall from inside the apartment building,” Mr. Prange said. “LAFD Urban Search and Rescue crews were able to break through into the vertical space using electric-powered tools to avoid carbon monoxide build up inside the building where the breach operation took place and entered the shaft below the man to slide him down to safety,” the firefighter said....
