Man Pleads Guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter in Death of Fiancee Who Went Missing

The fiance of an Ohio art student who went missing nearly 13 years ago pleaded guilty Friday to involuntary manslaughter. John Carter, 36, had been charged with two counts of murder when he was arrested in March 2023. He now faces up to three years in prison when he’s sentenced July 18. The charges stemmed from the August 2011 disappearance of Katelyn Markham, who was last seen at her home in Fairfield.
