UK Judges Quit Hong Kong’s Top Court

Two more British judges have resigned from the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal (HKCFA), with one of them citing the city’s “political situation” as the reason. The resignations came days after the Hong Kong High Court convicted 14 pro-democracy legislators and activists of “conspiracy to commit subversion” in the largest single prosecution under the Beijing-imposed national security law since it took effect in 2020, and following the first arrests under Hong Kong’s new Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.
