
Man Stabbed at Graduation Ceremony in South El Monte, 2 Suspects at Large
SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif.—A dispute that erupted outside South El Monte High School’s graduation ceremony led to one man being stabbed, and authorities were searching for the assailant Thursday, June 6. The stabbing occurred around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of Durfee Avenue, just outside the school football field’s fence, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A fight broke out between two men in their 20s following the graduation, a watch commander at the Temple City Sheriff’s Station told City News Service. The fight, believed to have involved people from two separate families, resulted in one person being stabbed in the upper body and another person being punched or slapped, Sheriff’s Sgt.
